Applied AI, UFV
Postgraduate specialization. Most recent work: a painting-authentication system combining classical texture descriptors (LBP, Gabor) with VGG16 transfer learning and craquelure analysis.
I've been in research since my earliest academic years — beginning with the study of propolis during my Pharmacy undergraduate degree, where I co-authored my first peer-reviewed paper.
That path led to peer-reviewed publications in renal genetics and the complement system — in JASN, Molecular Immunology and others — through a Master's at UFMG and a PhD sandwich year at Newcastle University.
Now completing a postgraduate specialization in Artificial Intelligence at UFV and bringing that training to work on health, genomics, data science, and creative technology.

A morning at Praia de Bombinhas, Santa Catarina. Artisanal seine fishing — pesca de arrasto — practised by coastal communities here for generations. Shot in a single session, kept in sequence.

“A morning at the sea, a camera, the good weight of silence.”— Closing frame, Bombinhas
I'm Geise. Trained first as a pharmacist, then as a molecular scientist — Master's in Molecular Medicine at UFMG, PhD sandwich program at Newcastle University — and now specializing in applied AI at UFV. What stays constant is attention: slow, methodical, documentary attention to the thing in front of me.
I work from Brazil, in three languages: Portuguese natively, English as my working language, and Spanish professionally.
